For $289 you're getting a GREAT value for your money with this charger. If you can use four ports, or even two, with potential to want more, this is a great charger.
Having used many brands of charger over all the years in hobby-grade RC, this one is the first in years to impress me with it's simplicity, easy controls and capable output. My last setup I still use, but it takes a dedicated high-output AC/DC power supply and the charger itself is bigger than this one, with only two outputs! Getting AC/DC input and 400w of power is
Enter the ISDT F400, a charger I'm VERY pleased to have found. I'm already loving it! It's really compact, arriving in a nice soft-shell form-fit case. Inside was the charger, a screen protector, instructions, and a power cable. Nicely presented, nothing excessive.
I first charged four batteries and my phone all at once to see how it would run, and it peaked around 410w and leveled out around 380w while charging them all. Performance seemed good, and the fans adjusted as necessary as loads increased. The display came at max brightness and was readable on a bright day.
The main display is easily changed to any one of four inputs with the four input buttons, and the settings is accessed with a long press of the big control dial. Simple, effective, clean. The knob is knurled aluminum and feels premium. Most chargers I've used have cheaper knobs and buttons, but these feel nice...
SURPRISE! The screen TILTS UP!! I wasn't really thinking this was a main feature until I used it. OH MY it's nice. Having a compact charger that also has a legible, adjustable screen is actually REALLY nice. I may even put stilts on my old charger to emulate this, as I've gotten used to shading the screen to see it with other chargers.
The only cons I found aren't even a big deal; the instructions don't discuss charge profiles a whole lot, nor do they mention what DESTROY does to a battery, exactly. I'm imagining it's a very slow, complete discharge to make the battery inert, but a manual revision should include charge profile info. I think since it's a new release I'm not worried ;)
Overall, this is a GREAT charger, well made, capable, relatively compact for a 4-port, and relatively high output. I'm very pleased. Charging is pretty straightforward, quick to activate, settings are remembered for the last few charge rates, and discharge works well but is limited to 3A. The outputs accept XT60, XT90, and by similar size also EC3 and EC5, but be cautious as the housing connector doesn't prevent reverse-polarity for EC connectors. The manual states it does have reverse-polarity protection though, so that's great!!
Finally, I did get super-fast charging on my android phone, so it does output good USB PD power. I don't think it has regenerative charging, if you use a 12v Pb power source you probably can't discharge back into it. Not a biggie.
Get some adapter leads to make charging any battery type easy, and maybe a balance lead extension, and you're ready for most any charging need.
